One of the things most of us want most is to be accepted. Esther Women are no different. When I was invited to again present at the two services at the First Baptist Church of Wahoo Pastor Paul asked "What do you want? What can we do for you?" My response was immediate and simple . . . "Include us. Include us in your women's events, but not as an after thought because it does take some planning on our end to fit it into our schedule." And I also said, "And I want that shirt!!!" Well that's exactly what Paula and Tracy who head up the Women Warriors or Wahoo have been doing! They have been including the Esther Women and planning ahead. The first event was on May 25th when we were all invited to a painting party - everyone painted crosses and we received an extra painting of a blue car with WELCOME on it. Of course, it now hangs on our front door ;-) We also received our "Sisters in Christ" T-Shirts at this event. Then June 8th Paula, Tony, Jackie, and Nancy came to visit us and see the Esther House for the first time. The Esther Women had a great time showing them around their home, then we all went out to lunch at Stavros. We enjoyed our time together and laughed so much our sides ached! COME BACK AND VISIT AGAIN!!! June 22nd we drove to Paula and Morris' "Trinity Ranch" for a Christian retreat for the day hosted by Paula and Tracey. We received goody bags filled with items matching the retreat theme of "Renew, Restore, Refresh" and of course, eat, eat, eat!!! Afterwards we had a beautiful walk around the ranch and got to meet their cats, dogs and donkeys along the way. So . . . THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for including us - for making us a part of your group and for just loving on our women. Paula sends out a morning devotional, a prayer and an encouraging/uplifting picture (around 5:00 a.m.) Monday through Friday and it is a beautiful way to start the day - just knowing that we are in her thoughts. We also receive beautiful encouraging cards throughout the month letting us know how much love she has to share with everyone she meets. I pray for everyone reading this that they experience this kind of love and inclusion in their lives. Blessings . . . Judi
eASTER AT ESTHER HOUSE - 04/21/2019
What a packed day of celebrating our Lord at the Esther House - we had a beautiful day of worship at Calvary Chapel Villages - followed by water (ascension) baptism of our Esther Women. How powerful!!! This was after we had several weeks of meetings with Pastor Steve reviewing all the Scripture about Baptism - developing a clear understanding of its meaning to us as Christians. Such a sacred day - not to be taken lightly. So often we see people in Correctional Ministries receiving this blessed sacrament without understanding why they are doing it or what it truly means. We are so blessed to have had this opportunity to study the Scriptures prior to this blessed event.
And . . . just like kids - they squealed when they received their basket of goodies - these were all donations from the Esther House Moms - one things the Esther Women were requesting were hair items and products which we do not provide as part of their hygiene bins. They were thrilled with their goodies. I don't know about you but my Easter basket never looked like this or was this size ;-)
